Herbal, Nutritional Supplements "THY" Is the solution
to this problem!
Because of the synergistic effects of this formula, you can use it for both
overactive and underactive thyroid.
Every woman with fibrocystic breasts
should be on this formula!

WILD LETTUCE (Lactuca virosa) is included in the formula because it has
a calming effect on the thyroid. Irritable mood is present in both over active and
under active thyroid problems. Many times when you have an overactive
thyroid, this will cause a rapid heartbeat and
Wild Lettuce will help this.

DULSE (Rhodymenia palmata) contains a high iodine content which is
needed by the thyroid gland. It is also high in chromium, magnesium, selenium,
silicon and vitamin A. I always recommend
Dulse or THY when I am working
with a woman with fibroid cysts of the breast or ovaries. Dulse is very high in
vitamin B6, vitamin B12, iron, flouride and potassium and is
rich source of
non-animal protien.
Recent research has suggested that Dulse may help reverse hardening of the
arteries, reduce high blood pressure, regress and prevent tumors, and even
remove toxic metals from our bodies by transforming them into harmless salts
(via a substance called alginic acid) that are easily eliminated. They help purify
and strengthen the bloodstream by
alkalizing it if it is too acidic and reducing
any excess stores of fat and mucuos.

IRISH MOSS (Chondrus crispus) is also an excellent source of iodine and
it also soothes the entire digestive and intestinal system. Many have added this
herb to skin cream to improve the skin. It contains high calcium and magnesium
and helps to stabilize body fluids such as edema and fluid retention. This herb
has also been used for protien, beta carotene and vitamin B1.
Other properties of
Irish Moss are: anti-inflammatory, expectorant, immune
stimulant, a nutritive tonic.
Irish Moss has blood-thinning properties so if
you are on "blood thinners," use Irish Moss with caution.

BLADDERWRACK (Fucus versiculosus) is very high in iodine and not
only feeds the thyroid but also the pituitary and pineal glands.
Bladderwrack
has also worked very well to stop hot flashes, has been used for swelling in the
testicle area, helps balance the entire endocrine system. Past cultural studies
relating to the result of including
Bladderwrack have determined a link to a
lower breast cancer rate; less obesity, heart disease, rheumatism, arthritis;
lower blood pressure; less thyroid disease less constipation and gastrointestinal
ailments and less infectious disease.
Bladderwrack provides nutritional support
to the nervous system and heart in the form of iodine, vitamins, minerals and
cell salts.

NOTE: I have found that I must also work to strengthen the adrenal
gland when working with the thyroid. HERBAL, NUTRITIONAL
SUPPLEMENTS "
ADR-M" is the formula I use.

Herbal, Nutritional Supplements
Do you have trouble losing weight ?
Are you tired all the time ?
Do you always need alot of sleep and even then you dont feel well
rested?
Do you rely on caffeine, nicotine or some other stimulant to keep your
energy going ?
Do you crave salty foods ?
Is your hair falling out (or less body hair in general: head, legs, arms,
eyelids, eyebrows) ?
Are you having trouble getting pregnant ?

If your answer is "yes" to several of these questions, you may be
having thyroid problems.
Iodine, which is ingested in food and water, is actively concentrated by the
thyroid gland and is needed to produce the thyroid hormone. If adequate iodine
is not available, your entire endocrine system may be out of balance.
One way to check to see if you may have low thyroid function is to monitor
your temperature for 30 days. Take your temperature before getting out of bed
in the morning; and if you find your temperature falls below 98.2 on a consistant
basis, you probably have a low functioning thyroid gland.
It is also important to remember that the thyroid is the "emotional" gland. You
can go through life with no problems, but an emotional upset can trigger the
thyroid to go out of balance very quickly.
It is interesting to note that there is a growing body of
research concerning
soy's detrimental affect on the thyroid gland.
Much of this research centers
on the phytoestrogens that are found in soy. In the 1960's when soy was
introduced into infant formulas, it was shown that soy was goitrogenic and
caused goiters in babies. When iodine was supplemented, the incidence of
goiter reduced dramatically.
(Could this be part of the reason low thyroid
function has been tied to breast cancer ?)
When the thyroid hormone is
deficient, the body is generally exposed to increased levels of estrogen. The
thyroid hormone is essential for making the "protective hormones" progesterone
and pregnenolone, so these hormones are lowered when anything interferes
with the function of the thyroid. The thyroid hormone is required for using and
eliminating cholesterol, so cholesterol is likely to be raised by anything which
blocks the thyroid function.
