CINNAMON (Cinnamomum cassia)
|
Cinnamon, in test tube experiments, mimics insulin, activates its receptor, and works synergistically with insulin in cells.

Richard Anderson at the US Department of Agriculture's Human
Nutrition Research Center in Beltsville, Maryland, discovered that
Cinnamon significantly reduces blood sugar levels in diabetics.
He reports to the New Scientist the following:
"Sugars and starches in food are broken down into glucose, which
then circulates in the blood. The hormone insulin makes cells take in
the glucose, to be used for energy or made into fat. But people with
type I diabetes do not produce enough insulin. Those with type II
diabetes produce it, but have lost sensitivity to it.
" Even apparently healthy people, especially if they are overweight,
sedentary or over 25, lose sensitivity to insulin. Having too much
glucose in the blood can cause serious long-term damage to eyes,
kidneys, nerves and other organs.
The part of cinnamon that is used medicinally is the dried inner bark.
Most Americans consider cinnamon as simple flavoring; but in
traditional chinese medicine, it's one of the oldest remedies,
prescribed for everything from diarrhea and chills to influenza and
parasites. Other uses are: Rheumatism, Menstrual Disorders,
Diabetes, Hypoglycemia, Intestinal gas, cough with frequent
spitting of whitish phlegm, Appetite loss, Indegestion, Nausea,
Vomiting, Infantile diarrhea, Increases peripheral blood flow,
Fungal infections (Use in water as a wash),Prolonged use is
known to beautify the skin, Post-partum and uterine
hemorrhages, Will dry up mother's milk, Catalyst for other
herbs helping energy flow in the body.
Dr. Alam Kahn, PhD with the NWPF Agricultural University in
Peshawa, Pakastan conducted studies and found the cinnamon
improves glucose and cholesterol levels in the blood and will also
lower triglycerides. His studies proved that Cinnamon can and does
improve glucose metabolism (triggers insulin release) and the overall
condition of individuals with diabetes, improving cholesterol
metabolism, removing artery-damaging free radicals from the blood
and improves function of small blood vessels.
This is a tremendous discovery, as diabetes has become a
national health dilemma. The news media is even flooded with
concerns about how many of our childeren are becoming
diabetic !
HERBAL, NUTRITIONAL SUPPLEMENTS
CINNAMON IS THE ANSWER !
I recommend two capsules every morning with breakfast. You can
also use one capsule when you are consuming a meal containing high
simple carbohydrate foods such as pasta and bread, as Cinnamon
helps to block the simple carbohydrates from converting to sugar in
the bloodstream.
