OREGANO
(Origanum vulgare)
This is not to be compared to the spice you find in the grocery stores that
you put on pizza and Italian foods. That spice does not have the
medicinal quality or achieve the results that wild Oregano gives.
True effective Oregano is wild, crude, and mountain grown under
specific soil and climate conditions are found in the mountains of the
Mediterranean without compounds that can be harmful to one's health.
This is the only kind of Oregano that is rich in Carvacrols, Flavonoids
and Terpenes which give Oregano its tremendous natural strength.

HISTORY OF OREGANO

The ancient Greeks were among the first to take advantage of Oregano's
medicinal qualities. The name "origanos" means "Delite of the mountains"
Because of the sweet, spicy scent in the summer air of Oregano that
covered the hillsides. Greek Mythology says that it was created by the
goddess Aphrodite as a symbol of happiness and thus bridal couples
were crowned with garlands of Oregano. They also placed Oregano on
the tombs of their loved ones to give peace to their departed spirits.

It has been found that Oregano has been used successfully for its

anti-inflammatory benefits
for atleast four centuries. It was used with
food for digestion to stimulate the flow of bile, control diarrhea and was
discovered to balance the metabolism and strengthen the vital centers of
the body. It was also used to preserve foods and to neutralized a wide
range of spider, scorpion, bee, ant, as well as snake bites and stings.

ANTIOXIDANT

Oregano contains 3 to 20 times higher antioxidant activity than any other
herb studied. The wild Oregano is rich in many minerals that make it such
a valuable commodity. Calcium, magnesium, zinc, iron, vitamins C and A
(beta-carotene) and niacin are contained in Oregano. Oregano contains
large amounts of chlorophyll, making it a natural antiseptic as well.

ANTISEPTIC - ANTIFUNGAL

Studies show that the two key components in Oregano are cervacrol and
thymol thus having a double punch in the antiseptic power effective for
killing a wide range of fungi, yeast and bacteria as well as parasitic
infections and viruses. Oregano is known to have nineteen antibacterial
compounds and up to 8.8 percent bactericidal compounds. This is
effective against antibiotic-resistant bacteria, poisoning, staphyloccus,
bacillus, salmonella, and E-coli, eptic water (giardia), shingles, cold
sores, genital herpes, trigeminal neuralgia, warts, boils and skin tags.
Oregano also has been beneficial in cases of skin disorders such as
psoriasis, eczema, rosacea and acne.

Oregano is probably
the most powerful herbal antifungal agent known to
man. It has been even known to destroy resistant fungal forms such as
the mutated fungi which results from antibiotic therapy. It is highly
beneficial for skin fungal infections and yeast infections (candidiasis).

RESPIRATORY AND CARDIO-VASCULAR SYSTEM

There are four anti-asthmatic compounds in Oregano. It has six
compounds that are expectorants and seven that may lower blood
pressure. When prepared as a tea with the extract, the large amount of
antiseptic compounds in Oregano makes a useful treatment for sinusitis
when sipped and inhaled. Oregano is known to helpful for heart disease
and congestive heart failure, lung disease, allergies, pneumonia, asthma,
sinusitis, cough, bronchitis and pulmonary tuberculosis.

PAIN KILLER

Oregano has proven to be a powerful pain killer and has been recorded
to supersede anti-inflammatory drugs in reducing pain and inflammation.
It can also be rubbed on the temples for headaches. Oregano has been
used historically for pain like morphine is used today.

OREGANO AND COLLOIDAL SILVER

The list of benefits seems endless for this highly versatile natural healer. It
has no side effects and it is compatible with any other natural remedy or
prescription drug. It is a good idea to compliment Oregano with

Colloidal Silver
. These natural anti-bicrobials are compatible with each
other and will hasten recovery.

HOW TO USE OREGANO

Liquid extracts can be taken orally with water or juice. One of the best
aspects of liquid extracts is the ability to taste them. The taste may be
unfamiliar to some people, or even unpleasant, however it is an important
part of their activity. German research strongly suggests that the
immune-activating properties of herbs begin when they come in contact
with immune sensors in the mouth. Oregano can also be used topically to
fight fungal infections of the skin and nails.
